Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark
of a civilized society. Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting, cock fighting, bull fighting, and rodeos are all cut
from the same fabric: violence. Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we
have learned to live well ourselves.
The quote above is by Cesar Chavez, who was a very important
person in the fight for civil and animal rights. He spent decades tirelessly working towards better
labor conditions and wages, and he co-founded the United Farm Workers union. He was a vegan because he believed in animal
rights.
